Whether it is Anagyrus or Aenasius spps.It does not make any difference for us and for mealybug too.Who reported it for first time in Haryana also does not make any difference for its parasitoidation of mealybugs. But it is true that this tinny wasp parasitizes mealybug populations upto 80 to 90 % in Jind distt of Haryana. The female parasitoidic wasp inserts its egg into the body of a mealybug. On hatching, larva of the wasp feeds on the mealybug internally and body color of the host starts turning brown. One female may lay more than 110 eggs in its life. Thus capable of parasitising 100 of mealybugs in its life.Actualy, we donot know its name, its fame and its family. We call it as ANGIRA.We the farmers of Nidana are witness to its emergence from a mummified mealybug. Its exit hole is circular and its antenae are small. We are highly thankful to nature and Angira for helping us in our fight against mealybug in cotton fields.
